
The main shrine, which was registered in the list of World Heritage in December 1994 together with Byodoin Temple, consists of 3 small shrines in Ikkensha Style of Kamakura Era, and is said to be the oldest shrine building existing in Japan today. It is noted in the history of architecture for its elegant "Kaerumata" of Fujiwara Era, which is one of the "Three Kaerumatas of the Fujiwara Era".
